Nursing Jobs in India

India, just like any other countries, is facing a shortage of skilled nurses. Most of the nurses decided to emigrate to Europe and the country is left with an insufficient number of healthcare providers. One reason again for this exodus is that better salary offers are given to Indian nurses when they travel abroad and build their career. Unfortunately, few high school students in India have an interest to pursue the nursing profession, which also caused the shortage f nurses in the country. At present though, approximately nine lakh nurses are nursing councils-registered but only 40% of them are truly qualified to be in a real-hospital situation duty.

In fact, India has the capacity to train approximately 80,000 diploma nurses, more than 40,000 graduate nurses, and about 2,000 post-graduate nurses yearly. The sad thing only is that when these nurses have finally pursued their nursing education, they hurriedly apply for an overseas nursing job. This even resulted to the problem that in India, for every doctor, he is assisted by one nurse, which is supposed to be1 is to 3.

With this fact in mind, one can just think how the Indian people are in need of quality nurse care. After all, this exodus may also be an eye-opener to the Indian people, there is one account that says that Indian nurses opt to leave the country to work in a foreign land not only because of the low salary they receive in India but also because they feel that nursing profession in their country is not given enough prestige. Most of the time nurses in India, according to some, are exploited and are not given due respect. Their exodus should at least be an awakening fact.
